Miami Children's Museum

Miami Children's Museum (MCM) is a nonprofit educational institution located in the Wynwood Arts District of Miami, Florida. The museum is dedicated to enriching the lives of all children by fostering a love of learning and discovery through interactive exhibits and programs.

History

Founded in 1983, MCM first opened its doors to the public in 1984 in a 5,000 square-foot facility. In 1986, the Museum relocated to a 15,000 square-foot facility in Coconut Grove. In 2001, MCM made the move to its current location in the heart of Miami’s downtown Arts & Entertainment District. The new 62,500 square-foot facility features 12 galleries, an outdoor play area, classrooms, and a 300-seat auditorium.

Since its founding, Miami Children’s Museum has served over 4 million children and families from Miami-Dade County, the state of Florida, and around the world. The Museum is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums (AAM), a distinction held by only 6% of museums nationwide.
